Before You Enrol

If you haven’t already done so, we’d encourage you to book a tour of our centre and meet our friendly team. It’s the best way to see our ethos in action and understand what you can expect your child to experience and enjoy.

We’d also ask you to read through our Kids World Parent Handbook – it will give you lots of information on how we do things at Kids World, and will help you to make an informed decision about entrusting your child to our care.

Step 1: Complete our forms

First up, we need you to download, complete and return three important forms before we can welcome your child to Kids World.

Our Enrolment Form asks for all the relevant legal information we need to enrol your child at Kids World.

All About Me & My Family collects specific information about your child’s interests and family background – it will help us to develop an individual educational program for your child.

We offer a range of payment options, including Direct Debit. You an access a Direct Debit Authorisation Form here, which facilitates payment direct from your nominated account.

Step 2: Immunisation Record

Once all your forms have been submitted, we’ll ask you to present your child’s up-to-date Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register – also available via your MyGov account. This is a legal requirement

Step 3: Contact Centrelink

If you have not already done so, contact Centrelink for assistance with the cost of childcare. If eligible, the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) will be paid directly to Kids World to reduce the fees you have to pay.

Step 4: Special circumstances

If there’s anything else we need to know about your child, including Medical Management plans, medication and court orders relating to custody arrangements, please provide all relevant documentation.

Step 5: Orientation

Our orientation process is as much for you, as a parent, as it is for your child. We want you to feel fully informed about what you can expect them to experience in a day, and be completely at ease about leaving them in our care.

Once we’ve confirmed your child’s place at Kids World, we’ll book you in for a free, two-hour ‘play visit’. You can stay with your child throughout, and will be able to meet their educators and ask any questions you might still have.

For your child, this is a time for them to familiarise themselves with their new environment, educators and the little ones who will quickly become their friends.

Are you ready to Enrol?

First Day

On your child’s first full day at Kids World we encourage you to stay for a short time to help them settle into the room. You are welcome to bring a comfort toy or a photo from home if you feel this will ease the transition.

We know that those early drop-offs can be challenging but, if your child is distressed, please be assured that our caring team will support and encourage them throughout, and know that they will grow in confidence over time. You are, however, welcome to contact us any point during the day to find out how your child is getting on.

Some helpful tips
  • Build anticipation in the days prior to starting at Kids World, and especially in the morning leading up to arriving at the centre, by talking about what will happen.
  • Keep drop-offs quick and light-hearted. A swift hug and a kiss, and an assurance that you will be back, will help your child feel comfortable about leaving your side.
  • Allow yourself some time during pick-ups to play with your child in the centre – it’s also a good opportunity for you to chat with educators and get to know other parents.
  • Develop a predictable routine by doing the same things in the same order each morning. This reduces the amount of uncertainty that your child is having to cope with.
  • Communicate with your child’s educators. Collaborative partnerships between you and our educators really can help to ease your child’s transition.
